Diamond is Unbreakable is the fourth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from May 1992 to December 1995. Originally titled JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Josuke Higashikata, the arc spans 174 chapters and is preceded by Stardust Crusaders.
In 1999, the Arrow, manifesting latent Stand abilities, travels throughout Morioh, Japan, as high schooler Josuke Higashikata (illegitimate son of Joseph) and his friends seek out the culprits of a series of homicides.
In the fictional Japanese town of Morioh in 1999, Jotaro arrives to tell Josuke Higashikata (the kanji 助 in his name is read in the on'yomi form as jo) that he is the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar and to warn him that Morioh is becoming filled with Stand users. This is due to a mystical Bow and Arrow that bestows Stands on those struck by the arrowheads. After Josuke takes revenge on a Stand user who killed his grandfather, he agrees to help Jotaro hunt down the holder of the Bow and Arrow. He gains allies in Josuke's friend Koichi Hirose, who is hit by the arrow; Okuyasu Nijimura, whose brother was using the Arrow until it was stolen from him; Rohan Kishibe, a famous manga artist; and even his estranged father Joseph Joestar. Along the way, the group deals with the various new Stand users throughout Morioh, including several of Josuke, Koichi, and Okuyasu's classmates. Eventually, the death of one of their friends leads to the discovery that one of the new Stand users is the serial killer, Yoshikage Kira.
Araki introduced the Bow and Arrow in this arc, which causes characters pierced by it to develop a Stand ability. This was used on DIO at the beginning of Stardust Crusaders, which not only gave him a Stand but caused Stands to develop in the Joestar bloodline as well. The arc was adapted into an anime television series by David Production, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, that began in April 2016. A live-action film adaptation by Toho and Warner Bros. titled JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I was released on August 4, 2017. Viz Media has licensed the manga and started to release it in English on May 7, 2019 in a compiled format.
